Epileptologist position Tampa Bay, Florida. We are looking for a Neurologist with a one to two year fellowship in epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology. The program is a level IV medical surgical epilepsy center with a video-EEG monitoring unit with epilepsy trained nurses, registered EEG technologists, Pharm D, epilepsy neurosurgeon, social worker, two neuropsychologists, an interventional neuroradiologist, physician assistants, ARNP and speech language pathologist. The program has FDG-PET, image co-registration, ictal SPECT, 3T MRI with a 32 channel head coil. and ROSA Robot Stereo-EEG. We will also do VNS and RNS. The hospital is a tertiary referral center for epilepsy in southwest Florida, and is a referral hub for a network of hospitals. There is also an evolving clinical drug trials program. The program is a nurturing program that fosters clinical, professional and personal development with a team of committed compassionate people whose goal is to improve the lives of people with epilepsy, educate physicians and the community and do clinical research. The position is a unique opportunity to do both community epilepsy (ie newly diagnosed epilepsy and status epilepticus in the hospital setting) and tertiary care epilepsy (video-EEG, invasive subdural EEG, Stereo-EEG and functional mapping). We integrate seizure semiology, clinical neurophysiology, functional and structural neuroimaging and neuropsychological data to optimize localization. It is located in a beautiful medium sized coastal city with beautiful beaches, a vibrant downtown that is part of the larger Tampa Bay region, and has numerous recreational, sports and cultural attractions. Furthermore, it has a low cost of living and no state income tax.
Completion of one or two year epilepsy/clinical neurophysiiology fellowship with competence in managing patients with epilepsy, interpreting routine EEGs, ambulatory EEGs, video-EEG monitoring and critical care monitoring.
Exposure to epilepsy surgery evalutions and BE/BC in Neurology and Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology.
