The Department of Neurology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Director of Epilepsy. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision and oversight of the clinical, research and educational missions of the Epilepsy Section. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated record of program development, collaboration, clinical care, scholarly activity and education. Candidates must be BE/BC American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and in possession of or eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Temple Neurosciences at Boyer Pavilion is one of the premier facilities in the region for evaluating and treating patients with all forms of epilepsy and seizure disorders. The center has an active epilepsy surgery program and busy epilepsy monitoring unit.
The Neurosciences Center at Temple University Hospital is one of the Philadelphia region's best facilities for the treatment of neurological disorders. A highly skilled and compassionate neurology and neurosurgery staff plus a state-of-the-art diagnostic center means access to advanced treatment options for patients with neurological disorders. Included are a Comprehensive stroke and neurovascular service MDA/ALS clinic Brain tumor center with neuro-oncology.
Maintain Level 4 accreditation by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Provide vision and oversight of the clinical, research and educational missions of the Epilepsy Section reporting to the Chairman. Develop and expand the surgical epilepsy program in conjunction with the neurosurgeons and the multidisciplinary team. Responsible for strategic planning and growth of admissions to the EMU, intensive care EEG monitoring and overall growth of the epilepsy program. In conjunction with the residency director, develop goals and objectives and program milestones for an Epilepsy Fellowship and provide leadership and growth for basic science research, industry funded and non-industry funded trials and investigator initiated trials.
